Lydia Cole

Sometimes, it’s the quiet, honest intensity of a song that will reach out to us through the hubbub of this world and make everything stop for just one, perfect moment.
Love Will Find A Way is a debut EP by a young Auckland songwriter called Lydia Cole filled with those moments of understated musical epiphany. Its words, delicate phrasing and performance, captured in a stunning recording from Neil Finn’s Roundhead
studio, announce the arrival of a noteworthy talent.
21 year-old Lydia has been plying her craft, drawing these often fragile songs from her experience and playing them to anybody who might care to listen for a few years now. She ended up at Roundhead studio at the invitation of Mr Finn, a fan of her early demos. Also armed with a NZ On Air New Recording Artist grant to record “Feels Like”, Lydia set to work with producer Nic Manders and a cast of eager stalwarts of the Auckland scene including Jol Mulholland (The Mots, Gasoline Cowboy) and Nick Gaffaney (Goldenhorse, Cairo Knife Fight).
And she came out with an EP also featuring the studio owner himself, so impressed by what he heard when Lydia set to work in his studio that he was soon joining in playing keyboards on the sessions. Love Will Find A Way comes out on 25 May. Expect to
hear it in the small corners of your world, and a lot more from Lydia Cole in the future. She tours main centres in June and will be back in the studio this winter.
